I searched forum feedback for this and couldn't find anything and I am sure there is a reason for this but anyway,

Why not make a WTB thread in Real Life stuff...

PRO's - 1. More specific. 2. Easier to navigate...you won't have bumps pushing down posts as fast. 3. Gives potential sellers a place to scout, so they can PM buyers without even having to post, thus saving space. 4. Gives buyers a place to post that won't be sucked up as fast by bumps. 5 - Will make search button more effective, ex - a buyer wants to find a socket 754 proc and searchs '754' but comes up with another WTB threads, which doesn't help him.

CON's - Gives mods yet another sub-forum to manage...yet I suspect this would simply cut the work in half; just merely shift the work into another forum. Any case, this would make it easier to for mods to manage, since posts wouldn't get buried as quickly by a refresh.

I think what you are asking for would become another FS/T forum. WTB would have to have someone answering the request which would be a seller and I doubt that it would go straight to PM....... and so you have another FS/T forum, no?

hes probly trying to say insted of haveing 1 thread/folder with fs/wwtb in it

convert it into 2 folders 1 for wtb one for fs

well gatta go at school

It would be a FB(?) thread I guess...what I mean having two different forums would help spread out the bumping where people posts things they are looking for precisely. It would make the For Sale threads easier to navigate/read/search because it would spread it out more evenly...it can also function as a place where sellers check BEFORE they post in For Sale thread, thus saving time and space on the forum.

It will also reduce confusion, if you search for an item you know it will be something someone wants to BUY, not Sell.

ex : Let's say I have a Nintendo DS I want to sell. Before posting pics/price, I do a quick search in the WTB forum and find two guys who want it. I know immediately any search results I get will be potential buyers for my item. I can then contact the buyers and negotiate from there.

I like the idea. Have a "for sale" subforum, a "want to buy" subforum, and make the root of it the [H]otdeals forum. So it would be:

Real-Life >> [H]otdeals >> WTB/WTS/Free Stuff

Agreed, anything to reduce the mass bumping in that forum is a good thing.

This topic was debated before. The original proposition was to split the FS/FT forum into two sub-forums. (FS/FT and WTB).

Kyle eventually shot down the idea along with a bunch of other mods. They agreed that it would create more confusion just as the others argued in the above posts.
