write combining?

Ok, i got a x800xl pci-e with cat 5.5's, Under the troubleshoot tab in the driver properties, what is "Enable write combining" ???
This is the same tab that hardware acceleration is under. The enable write combining box is checked. Do i leave it checked or is it better to uncheck it?

Write combining gathers together separate writes and puts them together into a single write. This speeds things up somewhat but has also been known on occasion to cause instability. Just leave it checked (enabled) because it runs faster (I don't know how much - most people leave it enabled and don't fiddle with it). If you have stability problems then you can try disabling it.

Would it cause connection errors in games? Because in ONLY games, my connection just randomly re-connects (i.e. cs/steam, bf2 etc.)... Just tryin to see what could be causing it.

Write combining's reputation is that it rarely causes problems. If there are any they tend to be video card crashes or hangs. I seriously doubt it would have any affect on connection errors. You can always just try it. Your video card should work fine both ways but your connection problems are probably caused by something else.
