Hey folks. I'm a mod newbie and would like to get rid of the mess of power supply cables running through my system. I got some of the stretchy cover crap and tried using it, but it doesn't fit over the molex connectors very easily. By looking at pictures, I've noticed that alot of you folks must be taking the power supply apart to get those covers on. Isn't it dangerous to take those things apart? If there was one thing stressed in classes and by coworkers, it's NOT to take the power supply apart. Is that what you folks are doing? Or do they sell these things with covers already on them?

Thanks :)

You are right though, don't take the PS apart until you know what not to touch, it can hold a mucho hurtin charge  even if it has been unplugged for a while.
Read up on sleeving and get yourself a pin removal tool from RadioShack or somewhere.

Can anyone recommend a good site that would teach about wiring? I'm pretty good with PC hardware and software, but I'm clueless on what tools I would need and how to use them. I want to go all out on my system. Any help is appreciated.

THANKS! :)

PS, thanks for the responses :)

If you take a slot screwdriver and touch the ground prong against the negative prong. I think it goes that way, but I usally touch the ground and the positive prong aswell just to be safe. That should drain any energy from the caps without blowing yourself up.

It worked for me, I had the PS apart and the circuit board out.
Managed not kill myself in the process. :D

That could be good advice, or a very mean joke. LOL I think I'll get me a wiring kit :p
