WPA2 not working, WEP does?

I have a Realtek RTL8187 Wi-Fi adapter. I've got the latest drivers, and can configure my access point with WPA2-PSK, yet I'm unable to connect when using this authentication. I can keep the system open and it works great, even with WEP encryption, yet WPA2 does not seem to work.

Has anyone else had a similar issue? I'm using Windows 7 by the way. I updated all important windows updates just yesterday, I don't know what can possibly be wrong.

Thanks for reading

I recently had an old laptop that wouldn't do wpa2. I found a driver update for the wifi and it included wpa2 support. (So....look around.)

oops sorry about the wrong topic

Nothing has been able to connect to my network when WPA2 is enabled. The Wi-Fi adapter is built in to my motherboard (got it in 2006), and have the latest drivers for the adapter.

I guess WPA2 is not supported by my adapter despite my driver software clearly letting me select WPA2-PSK? Any recommendations on an adapter to buy? Will a USB adapter suffice?

WPA2 is not supported on even some of the newer wi-fi adapters and chipsets, mainly for low-cost chipsets.

If it is from 2006, and realtek (low-end), chances are high that it does not support WPA2, even with the newest drivers, the hardware must still support it. Try WPA1-Personal, it should work and is nearly as secure.

Also, if the USB wi-fi adapter supports WPA2, then it should work just fine.

just tried WPA, it doesn't work either.

I guess I'll stop buy best buy and hope the adapter I get works,

Thanks!
