Wowable Laptop under $500?

Hello all,

Does anyone know if it's even possible to get a Laptop under $500 bucks that can play World of Warcraft fairly well?

Granted not all graphic options are enable, but powerful enough to have some decent graphics and game play.

Onboard GPU's will run it. But dont expect anything untill you get some form of a dedicated card.

My laptop is 3 years old and ran WoW with minimum settings and about 20-25fps:
Pentium M 1.6
1gig ram
64mb Ati Radeon Mobility 9200.

Maybe look for something along these lines?

even worse... my Centrino 1.4 512mb ram Radeon 7500 runs it at all low with about the same fps... its playable... lags a bit in cities but ive done ZG on it before

Thanks for the replies. I always thought WoW needed more GPU. I guess I'll keep an eye open during this year's Black Friday deals.

Mine runs at all lowest possible settings:

P-M Dothan 1.4 Ghz
Intel GMA 900
512 MB DDR (not dual channel)
4200 rpm Disk

It runs fine, albeit it looks ugly, but cities are choppy a bit. Don't know that I would want to raid on it, though.

I'd recommend against onboard graphics for a lot of reasons. Number one is they are really, really bad. Any type of discreet graphics would be superior to integrated. You should be able to find something close to your budget if you shop really, really smart.

not really... I've been looking very hard for the last few weeks and I havent found anything under 800-900ish that didnt have intigrated graphics. Im in the same boat.. only thing is I dont want to play wow full time on it... just when Im killing time between classes ect...

Gotta shop smarter than you have been.. Those are two solid units. There are plenty of repair parts available for them in case you have an accident. And they are you can upgrade the ram and \ or hard drive if you need. I'd get the Emachines unit for $530 shipped. Its a steal.

By the way, those are two units I pulled off the top of my head. There are many more like them and different models of the same thing I listed. You may also be able to find a refurbished unit but I don't know what those would cost.
