I'm not usually one to get excited about things like this, but DAMN that is pimp

Lol, nothing new there. They realized how many people were modding xbox and ps2 controllers for PC use so they decided to save us the trouble. I might buy one a year or so from now, but there is nothing wrong with the xbox controller I currently use on my pc.

Unfortunatly I don't have a PC game pad. This X360 pad looks REALLY nice though.

Most, i guess. And a bet a large portion of those are regular old modded Xbox controllers. I think the s-controller is fairly high quality, and it works beautifully. Microsoft is doing this so the "average joe" can/will/may use a joypad for thier PC.

More people buying one (because it's easy) = More money for Microsoft.

Instead of picking up a new/used S controller for $10, you can pay MS $30-40 for a new X360 controller! Yay!

Why do people rave about the Xbox S controller? I used it at an Xbox kiosk this week and it was totally imprecise. The thumbstick offered no resistance which makes it difficult to aim in Far Cry.

N64 controller thumbpads offered resistance and felt tighter, offering precise control in Goldeneye and every other game.

Far Cry is giong to be bad on consoles, unless they totally re-work the gameplay. Far Cry is all about precise head shots, not spray and pray.

What is cool about this controller is that it will work with the Xbox 360 when it comes out. The only gripe I have is that I wish they would have also released a wireless controller.

The controller had probably be used by hundreds of people and hence the no resistence left in the thing. Remember the N64 controller? Man, those things used to get loose and the plastic grinded away like mad around the thumbsticks. At least with the hardcore peoples controllers, that is :p

The price for that controller is borderline obscene since it isn't wireless. Seems like it's only a deal for those who are going to buy an Xbox, but even then 45 bucks for a wired controller?!

lots of gamecompanies r optimizing their games just 4 the controller and its gonna kick ass. mabye itll replace the xbox 360 4 me and ill just play it on my dlp projector. i cant wait 2 get 1!

Ah, pretty nice stuff. Bit of a rip if you're one of the many who have already done an S-pad mod.
The thing that got me was the first paragraph of the article. I actually started laughing out loud.
Initially overjoyed, we rushed outside with the red and clear plastic packaging held high over our heads while bellowing various obscenities at the elderly and a few small children. Several minutes, purse thrashings, and flying pacifiers later, we came to the sobering realization that even though we had the X360 controller, we still couldn't play the games. Damn.

Heh, not really that big of a jump since I've been using a regular xbox controller on my pc for the last three years. This just means it isn't proprietary anymore, will have official drivers and since it's ms you know the drivers will be absolutely terrible! :D

Actually, I bought Far Cry: Instincts for my Xbox last week and it's pretty good. I can't really compare it to the PC version as I've only played the PC demo, but for what it is, I'm enjoying it.

I actually prefer keyboard/mouse for most of my PC gaming, but having a gamepad could be useful for racing and sports titles.

And then, one stops to remember how many Far Cry ads Gamespot and its other sites were running...
By that logic I should be wary of any [H} reviews featuring Thermalake products. I love my PC but you have to admit that some console shooters just work.

though i don't plan on getting X360 any time soon.. i think i'm gonna buy this controller hahahahhhahahah!!!! LOL@YOU!!!

I can't understand how people play shooters with a gamepad...

Gamepads are good for exploration games and RPG's maybe...sometimes --- it really depends on the game, but they do work quite well for some of them

Just NOT shooters!

IMO it's not wireless, therefore my Logitech Wirelss Rumblepads (PS2-esque) beat it with a spiked club with +1 to sitting back while gaming.

It was a very good idea to make a common controller design, and I am very thankful for it. Now, if only someone would give you a dictionary so that you could learn how to spell full words...

I dont see how racing with a gamepad is more fun than an keyboard...

Analog triggers + analog steering control. How can that not be more fun than a keyboard? :)

So where exactly are these available as of now? Anyone besides Best Buy have them for sale? I might pick one up. I can use it with both my 360 and my PC, so it'll be money well spent. :)

That's a pretty nice controller, but at $45 it had better aim for me and make me a sandwich after I'm done pwning n00bz.

I could really use a gamepad for my PC; I just recently picked up the Tony Hawk games and I'm loving them. I'm not going to spend that much for a wired pad with function buttons that don't apply to PC games (Xbox dashboard button) though. I think $19.99 would be a fair price, at $45 it's completely outclassed by the wireless offerings from Saitek and Belkin.

you know your a geeky gamer when......

-you take 96 pictures of a game controller everyones seen already including every trigonomic angle of the packaging and the software about to be installed on your rig, and on top of all of that you take a pic of your hand in the thumbs up position next to it.

:p

Somehow I doubt there was no resistance...I think reviews for it would be a little...well, incredibly horrible and all reviewers/websites/showgoers would have bad things to say about it...but all they have is good things to say about it......
