OK I tried wow last thanksgiving on the 10 day free trial. After playing an hour I dropped.
Then it was 20 minutes drop. then 10 then 2. I read that they were having server errors. BUT this was not disconnect I was dropped to the desktop. I have played hl2 doom3 quake4 and every other game you can think of on this system and no problems. Should I just avoid this game?

IF NOT :)

can a person play this game solo and get max level?
I only have an hour or two a night to play at most so I don't want to spend all my time trying to find a good group.

What is a good race class to play?

horde or aliance?

thanks big time for help I just saw that bb has it for $19 and frys for $17...wish I had a frys here.

Sounds more like your wow is crashing, which would probably be an issue with an unkempt system than WoW.

As for soloing, with only an hour or two a day it would take yu a bloody year to hit 60. Depending on the server youll never see any pvp battlegrounds in that time either.

Even though youll never be able to find raids in the endgame(since there are 5 billion rogues and hunters), a hunter or rogue are probably the easiest to start out with. Warlock and preist being the worst to start with.

As for race. In general Horde races have more useful racial abilities, like the undead's will of the forsaken. Alliance has some pretty worthless racials, but I stillplay them anyway :p

I don't know about the crashing, it's either something with your computer or drivers.

WoW isn't that graphically intensive. I have 512mb of ram, a geforce 6200 and a 2.0ghz P4 and I run the game full and it's fine.
Yes you can solo the whole game, if that's your thing.
Ya you'll do fine by yourself, except for instances (But they arn't needed)
The class really depends on what you like to play. Do you like doing sudden massive melee damage? Are you a fan of sneaking about? Do you like a magic character with sudden high damage (mage) or high damage over time (warlock)?
HORDE HORDE HORDE. Do you like playing with mature people? Join a horde server. Alliance sucks.

I disagree. I have 60s both alliance and horde, and there is really no difference... alliance have it easier endgame PVE and horde have it better in PVP. As for players? Both sides are jam-packed with morons. Horde have the barrens and alliance have Redridge. Either way, be prepared to mute general :p

I dunno, I usually play on Low horde to alliance ratio servers (as in less horde) and horde in general always seem more mature and easier to get help from.

Plus I just fucking hate gnomes.

Note that the following is based on the opinions I developed while playing, which I stopped doing a month ago.

It's very easy to play solo and hit the max level. However, at around level 40 or so, soloable gear starts drying up, and it's really to your advantage to do every instance at least once to grab some greens and blues (Nice gear that adds to your stats)

Since you want to solo, I'd highly recommend rolling a Hunter, Rogue, or Druid. Hunters are a ranged pet class that solos extremely well. Rogues are the stealthy alpha-strikeish class, and druids are very all around, but a bit harder to learn than a hunter or rogue.

Horde/Alliance is extremely based on opinion. Most servers are skewed torwards one or the other, and it's really dependant on server how each side acts. Know going in that you'll meet your share of total retards and really cool people, and you'll be fine. So just pick based on looks/racial abilities.

Make sure you grab a gathering class, and sell stuff on the auction house. Selling skins/herbs/metal on the AH can bring in a lot of cash early on, and is usually more efficient as a method of making money than selling tradeskilled items.

says the guy with all gnome and dwarf characters. Maybe I like short character cause im so tall (6'5) I dunno but I love gnomes and seeing them in stealth is funny. As for horde having more mature players...no, both side have the equal amount of idiots, but people who play horde seem much more friendly cause frist day I made a troll rouge someone stop and gave me a bunch of money and amour :) .I dont now about why your game is crashing, but on my other computer I had some problems with the game, but MMORPG arent usally really to stable they tend to mess up more often than other games.
 
While WoW is awesome, and I do currently play it. I would say stay away from WoW. Its digital crack, you can quit but youll come back to it after a while. It sucks you in, its a time sink. Most of the time I'm not even having fun while im playing, Im just addicted. Please avoid this game, go out side and ride a bike, or even better buy a puppy. :p
 
Thanks for all the help..I went to bb to get it and they were out. FIGURES lol

When I dl the free trial..I had to dl it like 10 times to get a good file.
then I install and it ran fine for 1 hr..then desktop.
So I started up again and 20 minutes, then desktop.
some times it was as little as 2 or 3 minutes before it just quit.

A couple of times I tried to connect and it said server issues or server update or some such
I cant remember exactly...after 2 days of trying I quit it.

Like I said I have played a ton of games on this machine from diablo to Q4 GuildWars BF2(ahhhh what a piece of sHI@)
and never had a problem with any of them.

Do they have any customer support at buzzard?

Maybe it's overheating? Have you tried running any games since then?
 
If you want to experiencing end-game content roll alliance. On just about every server (if not every server) there are significantly more alliance end-game guilds than horde guilds. The average age of the horde population may be higher than that of the alliance, but in a good guild you won't notice it. With the horde attracting older people you're going to get a lot more unmotivated, worthless middle aged men going through some sort of mid-life crisis.

It's the reason I quit alliance. By the time I got my priest to level 57 or something, I was just screaming STOP JUMPING YOU FUCKS
 
Graphically, WoW is less strenuous than something like HL2 but the amount of loading dynamically is far more intense since it is an MMO and a nearly seamless MMO at that. Like others have said it may be due to an unkempt system or even possibly a RAM issue, or a combination of the two. Also don't count out your ethernet port or wireless card... there are weird issues that pop up with whatever connects to the internet. For instance there are some known quirks with nvidia-based ethernet ports and WoW (which I think are generally solved with driver updates).

They have lots of customer support at Blizzard, however they are generally swarmed with customers so turnaround time varies wildly.

As for solo to 60, any class can do it on both factions. End-game content is generally dominated by alliance. While there are some skill combinations that make some encounters easier for alliance, I would wager that the biggest reason why alliance is generally on top of the end-game PvE is simply because of their greater numbers. I'm personally in an end-game horde guild. We've killed Razuvious, Anub'rekhan, Faerlina, Maexxna, and Noth in Naxx so far, which puts us in the top five horde guilds but in alliance standards we'd be something like 20th.

And this is the real reason why the alliance does significantly better at PvE content.
