I bought the original V523 back in 2002. It was a great case, but I moved onto the shuttles as secondary systems(and later primary).

Anyway, I had to build a computer for someone, and opted for the V523 case. I went on the egg, and found this.

Got it in the mail yesterday, and man, do I like it.

cooling vents and shroud, a 92mm fan in the rear (was an 80), a 120mm fan in the PSU (used to be an 80).

And the PSU has 2 SATA power plugs now as well.

I'm truly impressed; anyone needing an mATX chassis should look at the V523T.
 
doesn't look too special to me, IMO if someone is looking for a small neat package then a shuttle is the only way to go. they do get warm but for the most part modern components are designed to withstand heat, so instead of having it last say 6 years it will only last 4 or 5. i have a hard time justifying to myself to move to anything larger unless i'm going to run multiple hdds (i.e. like more than 500gb worth) or watercool. going from a matx to a mid-tower isn't much of a difference, but going from anything to a sff is pretty huge. still, if you like it, cool. i can't disagree that it would be a worthy case for someone with matx needs.
 
well, when you're building systems for people whose budget isn't adequate for a Shuttle (I'd probably reccomend them the SN4x series)...$150 vs. almost $300...when you're asked to build them a system for <$600, you have to work with that you can.



I fully agree w/ the superiority of shuttle's systems...having owned 4 or 5 of them since Jan 2003, I can't say otherwise. But, for those people who need an mATX chassis for whatever reason...I'm just amazed at how much the V523 has changed for the better. It doesn't feel cheap and flimsy like the more expensive Enlights.....it feels like an Antec/Chieftec clone. Good steal, good construction, etc.
 
I totally agree. The new mesh allows for much better cooling than that funky grey button used to. Its a much better case now. Especially for the price.
