PSA, WoW servers since update are BONKERS. I figure we will be getting free day out of it. Once again Blizzard dropping the ball on patch day :)

You have to be holding the ball in order to drop it.

I havn't logged yet, so i'll find out when I get home and get the patch installed.

good luck downloading the patch mine keeps freezing at 83% like a ton of people, any other way to get the patch?

How bad? I won't be able to experiance it in person for another hour and a half.

Fileplanet has it. The 83% marker is the 127 megs that Blizzard was streaming over the past few weeks, so technically your download hasn't started at all.

That is what happens when a 455MB patch is served from only a couple locations. Just a bit of a bandwidth issue. :)

just gotta wait, mine worked after a while

edit: and yea that 83% has been streamign for a few weeks now, u just need to wait for more people to connect to the blizz downloader (it works like bt) and ul be able to get the patch

Link updated for alternate download though Blizzard's downloads seem to be working fine. Bunch of servers are still offline, check announcement page on the logon screen.

I just wish they actually used a proper BT client instead of this monstrosity that they've come up with. They'd have a lot more people actually contributing to the P2P swarm if you could just configure which ports to use. I mean, honestly - what's up with this "you will need to ensure that ports 6112, 3724, and 6881 through 6999" crap? I can have -dozens- of individual torrents running off a single, configurable, port when running a sane client.

If you think a one hour delay in getting the realms up and running is bad then you've never:

1) Played any other MMOs (and apparently BF2) worth a damn
2) Never been to the DMV
3) Objectively looked at situations.

This was by far the smoothest large content patch they've done. Many realms were starting to go up at the scheduled uptime and the majority of them were fully functional after an hour to an hour and a half after that. My guild had little problem attuning ~50 people to Naxxramas and getting in there by 5pm EDT (scheduled up time for the servers was 3pm EDT).

I think their current BT client is based off of the old core version and not the new, snazzy version that is far more robust. They probably use their current ports because they are very similar to the ones used on battle.net. The problem is they tried to make it idiot-proof. That's just not going to happen.
