wow, infinite storage :) . I love how they mention backing up our emails and web history on a remote drive. I'm not sure I'd even trust the mighty Google to serve my sensitive data. ;)

They.. already... back up emails on a remote drive, until you delete them.
 
That's why you don't serve your "sensitive" data to Google. :rolleyes: But everything else that's not critical, why not? :)
 
I have a personal policy not to trust personal data with any company as much as I possibly can. Google has always wanted to keep records of your search activity info and your email if you use them and if it's nothing important I dont care. Passwords and financial info is a different story and I do my best not to let anyone get that stuff unless its neccesary and I can trust the company.
 
i think its a pretty good idea, i wil take advantage of it, i will like having my bookmarks mobile from computer to computer
 
I won't trust them with my own data... We never know what is the wish of Google with them.

i would trust them with my non-sensitive data. and i would test their definition of infinity.
 
https://www.box.net/ does this already with a free 1Gb account, they aslo have a program you can run to sync your space to a directory or folder. Of course they are not as big as google but I think the idea is ok...if it is encrypted first or not sensitive information.
 
I think their definition of infinity is pretty good, for your internet connection speed ;) Let's say for argument you have 384k upstream; in practice that's about 42 KB/s upstream or so. In an hour you get 150 megs up, in a day 3.5 gigs. Congratulations, that's about $1.75 of disk space. Guess how many days you can keep this up before they notice and lock your account? And they're not being unreasonable, IMO.

As to data safety, I'll trust them until they hurt me, and then they're getting a lawsuit. I'll join a class action if there is one, but a lawsuit there will be. Do No Evil, or Else.
