I have some backlight bleed on the bottom of my new Acer 27 inch screen. It goes from left to right about 1/4 in width. Is this about the norm or would you have it replaced? It would cost me $20 to have it shipped back to Newegg and have them ship me a new one...

Yes and if you goto almost zero it goes away. But if you lower it to anything below 90 brightness it starts it emit a nice high pitch buzzing noise..

Is that an edge lit lED because if it is I bet that is how it is going to look no matter what. I returned my Asus VE278Q because the bleed was nasty and some other reasons that made the monitor a bad choice for me and only me personally. LEDs have that issue in my limited experience.

Seems about the norm for these panels. I've had two v276q's off newegg and both had blacklight bleed along the bottom mostly. I only swapped the first one due to dead pixels. If you think the cost is justified and/or it will annoy you alot it might be worth it.

You should remember though you run the risk of a monitor with worse defects, mainly pixel issues. I don't think you will find too many 27in TN panels without some backlight bleeding, and it will vary even within the same model. Trying to get the perfect panel through online shopping can be costly, and If you have no other defects on the monitor I'd say you're in good shape with it.

Why will it cost you $20 to ship it back? You know if you email newegg RMA department, they can email you a UPS label to send it back to them for free. At least that is the way I've always taken care of RMA's from newegg.

Can't use 90 brightness and expect to not have bleed, the monitor is most likely putting out 250cdm/2 brightness with that OSD value.

If you have a Spyder device calibrate the monitor to 120cdm/2 and put on some music to avoid the humming.

if it looks to odd then yes return it, and do some research on it...see if anyone else that bought that product has had the same problem.
