Scenario:
*AeroCool AeroEngine 2 with substantial airflow through it
*500W bZerk modular PSU
*Toledo core X2 3800+ that runs 2.374GHz @ stock voltage(which ends up being 1.388-1.4V) or 2.5GHz at 1.488-1.5V
*Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro w AS5
*Radeon X1800XT with Accelero X2

Stock temps:
Idle: 33-34C
Load: 45-46C

2.374GHz temps:
Idle: 35-36C
Load: 47-49C

2.5GHz temps:
Idle: 38-40C
Load: 50-55C

I would like you fellow m8es opinion on these temps and voltages and if it should be considered "safe" or "worth it" to run this lil' buddy at 2.5GHz considering the temps it reach... I remember my old TBird reaching something like 65C at full load on hot summer days and my Barton would almost reach into the 70C territory when "fully loaded" in the same conditions, what thos systems didn't have in common with this one though is the much improved airflow... So, what goes?

Load tests performed during several days running two instances of Prime95 and two instances of SP2004 v40(priority at least 2 to make it tax the cores)

My 3800+X2 with the same cooling does 2.6ghz at 50-55c full load, your temps are fine. Id say anything past 55c and you can start worrying about it, the maxtcase of most of our cpu's is around 65-67c so your well below it.

Kewl ;)
About the tCase temp tho, before the casing reaches that temp the core must be about 5-10C hotter, right?

5c or so is about right.

Allright... time to go wring the clockspeed back up from 2.375 again then ;)
Gives a little boost even in Windblows when navigating Exploder or having a bunch of programs running... And the extra core gave quite a boost when doing lotsa stuff at the same time ;) (previously I had a Winchester 3000+ that clocked 2.4GHz at def. voltage with stock cooler)
