So right now I have my pagefile on my HDD, the problem is that thing is dying. It takes about 10-20 seconds just to open a folder on that drive, and sometimes when I play/startup a game I hear the disks stop spinning for a second and there is lagspike/takes a while to load. Now I was wondering if it would make sense just to buy some small SSD(Like 8gb or something) just to put the pagefile on, or is this pointless?

I would get a new HDD, but they are too expensive for what they are right now.

I don't understand. If your drive is on the way out (and from your description it sounds like it is on its last life if it is spinning down/spinning up at random times, unless you have it set to spin down and you are just hitting it as the drive is spinning down) then you are going to have to purchase a new drive anyway. What kind of drive is it? In your sig you only mention a 500GB drive. You can get a new 1TB SATA drive for under a hundred dollars ( or a used 500GB working drive for about $35 or less on the bay,) so I don't understand "I would get a new HDD, but they are too expensive for what they are right now.".

i agree, find a bargain (there is plenty) and replace the drive instead of waiting for it to die.
 
It's been doing it for close to a year now and still somehow lives. Theoretically though, would a small SSD help with the pagefile or would it be a complete waste of money? Assuming I do buy a regular HDD and this would just be extra.

Theoretically, if you are just worried about the pagefile, adding more RAM (You can get 8GB of DDR3-1600 for under 50 bucks) would do WAY more than putting your pagefile on an 8GB SSD (Adata 8GB SATA SSD is about 40 bucks). Just buying an 8GB SSD for the pagefile would be a waste of money. As stated above, I would replace that drive ASAP and make sure you always have good backups. If you have the $$$, I would buy a 64GB or larger SSD as my system drive and then whatever hard drive you can afford for the overflow apps and bulk storage.

Alright, I have a 60gb SSD for windows and a 240gb for games right now. I'll add some more RAM and get a new HDD. Thanks!
 
Why don't you just have the paging file on one(or both) of your SSDs? Assuming the SSD is not complete garbage it will be long obsolete before you've paged enough data to it to degrade it.
