pentium 4 2.8e (prescott)
gigabyte board
2 optical drives (dvd burner and cd burner)
gainward fx5200 ultra
1 40gb wd hard drive
2 80mm fans (one exhaust and one for cpu and i may be addiing two more)
512mb (2x256) buffalo pc3200 ram

i need answers asap and thanks for looking guys :D

lol the thing is that my friend's raggety comp is overheating, the top of the case is warm to the touch and he has a brand new 250w smart power sitting here chillin

No,With that and 4 fans, I calculate 299w needed, This does not INC any plug in USB Floppy, 1394, sound card, netwrok card, lights etc. 350 minimum needed

Opps, Forgot to add in memory, REVISED NEEDED.......
needed is 327w, I also assumed 800mgz FSB?

thanks man thats pretty helpful......so it turns out that using the calculator, the power supply will support it with 7 watts free but that does not include the extra add ins damn imma need a new psu

I'm no expert but I know it's good to have a bit of a header on top of what you need. I've been recommended to account about 25W more than estimated, just to be safe.

Better calculator: http://takaman.jp/D/?english

Breaks down the individual rails and not just "wattage."

Looks like that Antec will only "barely" work. Unfortunately, it has most of it's load on the 5V rail where you don't need it. :( Thanks again Antec!

You cant try it. I know it'll work better than the Powmax since a 400W Powmax equates to about a 250W anything else.

u sure?? i dont wanna go thru all the trouble swapping out the powmax 400w for the antec 250w and find out that it doesnt work or isnt stable

Haha.. Dude. You're the one face to face with a Powmax 400W in a Prescott system. You tell me.

Remember, load calculators give you numbers for WORST CASE SCENARIO. I think you'll at least be better off than the Powmax.
