Would this even be worth the upgrade?

I’m currently running this:

GA-K8N Pro
Athlon64 3400+
1 gig of Mushkin Level II 2 X 512 (DDR 3500)
BFG 6800 GT OC

Would it even be worth upgrading to this.
Intel LGA775 Pentium 4 550 3.4 GHz, 800MHz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache, Hyper Threading Technology - Retail
ABIT "AS8" i865PE Chipset Motherboard for Intel LGA775 CPU –RETAIL
Kingmax TSOP 184-Pin 512MB DDR PC-4000 - OEM

What do you guys think? Worth the upgrade or not?

Unless you do heavy video editing... HELL NO... (and yes I have intel rig atm). All indications shows Athlon is sueprior for general task... GAMING. :D :D :D
The real issue is that you are trying to lose money by "upgrading" to see practically no perofmrance difference or potentially slower system.

not worth upgrading, both systems are probobly similar performance.

definitely not worth upgrading. However, I will be happy to swap my RAM for your RAM. ;)

That's kind of what I thought.

So with gaming it wouldn't be any better? ARen't Intel more stable and reliable? What about overclocking on it?

You could overclock the 3.4. I'm not sure what people are getting those up to. Last I remember was around 3.9 and 4.0 on air, but I guess the point would be that you wouldn't see any drastic performance changes so it really wouldn't be considered an upgrade per say. However, if you're willing to lose gaming performance for fasting encoding and HT and you want to have fun rebuilding a whole new system then that's fine. However, just be warned that you will probably not see very dramatic performance increases in switching from one rig to the other.
Good luck
