Would this be a case of electromigration?

Well, I just purchased a k8v and an athlon64 3400+. I've had nothing but problems.

Basically I have to cold boot the computer 3 or 4 times to get a boot screen. Once that's done it goes to CMOS. I have to set the cmos setting everytime. CMOS settings won't save!! If I actually get into windows, it locks up within a few minutes.

At this point i'm about to RMA.

blah

I've tried removing all pci and ide devices, that hasn't helped.

No, it's not electromigration. You'll encounter electromigration if you over-volt the processor beyond its limits.

Remove all RAM but one module. Try different memory modules until the problem is solved. Barring that, it's time to consult your motherboard manufacturer and perhaps request an RMA.

try re-seating the HSF, also the battery might be dead (even on new mobos, this happens) ram tests, different vid cards, out side of case, PSU. the usual
