I bought a used Dimage 5 for some newbie photo shoot...It uses 4 AA batteries...and I'm sure this camera uses energy quick. With 4 batteries fully charged, by the 5th shot..the camera shut iself down and the low battery sign displayed. The setting tried were ISO 800 and 400, +2 color. auto weather...So what did I do wrong?? Thanks alot

With AA's I would get rechargables. First how much time are you spending on setting up shots? Are you using the monitor for shooting? Also is there a self shutoff feature? It should be in the menu. If you had to use the flash, then it will eat up juice. I suggest getting the high capacity batteries. Batteries+ is a good place to find some.

Definitely get rechargeables, high capacity NiMHs is probably what is recommended for your camera. You'll find that regular alkaline batteries just suck for cameras that use AA batteries. Also, point and shoots like the DiMages tend to drain batteries faster because they use LCD for everything, and a lot of battery power goes into that if you use LCD for composing/previewing and reviewing a lot.

The batteries I'm using right now can be charge and use again and my setting weren't wrong? or these setting don't have any effect on my batteries. So I shouldn't use the LCD but viewfinder instead and also minimum the use of flash becuz it uses alot of engergy? Thanks for the answers guys...

Chances are your batteries are dead (i.e. cannot be recharged). Try using some Energizer Lithiums. Although disposable, they will last a long, long time. I used to use them in my old power-hungry P&S and now still use them in my flashgun.

I agree. Regular batteries suck for dcameras. You need some high capacity NiMHs like 2300mAh minimum....

If they are NiCads' they wont last long either. Did your camera have the manual? If not I would go to their site and, get the PDF manual for your camera.
