Work is offering me a shot at getting into Virtualization. We are picking up a new client who has alot of virtualized servers.

I've read thru the sticky thread, and I've started digging wikipedia for a few hours now.

I have the ability to be reimbursed for all Training, Traning Materials, exams, and any certifications as well as an incentive. I have no problem getting into it either since its probably best I do.

Who can show me to some stuff?
 
what thin client do i use for the client side to let it connect to esxi?

punch the esxi ip address you set during setup into your browser. (memory forget here) their a link you click to download off of the web page that allow you to manage the ESXi box

Don't click the vcenter link. its the other one

I mean, to use old computers as a thin client to connect to the desktop that the server is hosting.


I get how to connect to setup the server but not sure how to connect to the virtual desktops for the old pcs
 
OP - If you want the basic couse for VMWare, it's called the Install & Configure. There's a follow on class called Deploy, Secure & Analyze. Or, you can take the (time) compressed version of both (all at once), called the Fast Track course. The Install & Config, and DSA classes are $3k/ea + travel +study time + lab hardware that you'll want to practice on + any 3rd party books + $175.00 test fee.

This will get you a VCP certification, and is the route I suggest you go. Once you grasp the basic concepts in the VCP course, you can pretty much play with a lot of other virtualization solutions and know what it is that you're doing, or manipulating. That's not to say that they are all equal, they're not. But, you'll have a good foundation.
