If I upgrade, it will just be the motherboard/cpu/ram at this time. Later with Fermi coming out, then possibly the videocard. I am currently running an 8800GT OC (G92).
 
What do you plan on doing ????

gaming wise...depends on the game.....most of them will benefit from a new GFX card.......however if your doing anything else that stresses your cores, then it will definatly be night/day
 
You would definately notice a huge difference in multi-core demanding programs like GTA4 and BC2. Also, you should feel the different just using the system, especially if you are multi-tasking.
 
I multitask often. Excel, Internet browsing, winamp, extracting rars, encoding/converting video files. Ect ect. Gaming is light. Bioshock 2, Half-life 2, UT2K4.

Estimate of upgrade: $500. CPU/ram/mobo
 
I just went from a x2 5600+ to an x4 955 (oc'd to 3.8). Complete night and day.

i went from a 6000+ to a 720x3 and i seen it right away.the 720x3 is a nice all round cpu.best bang for the buck.
 
When I recently did my switch over back to Team Green, I discovered that AM3 Mobos are very picky about the RAM you use. So, once you decide on the exact board you want, get the list of approve and tested RAM for said board.

And, don't get RAM that is "designed for i7", as most of those seem to dislike AMD setups.
