Im about to upgrade computer, i mostly play WOW and sometimes COD4/COD5, I dont see my self playing anyother games for the next 2 years at least. But I do need to upgrade right now, so im planing to invest the least possible, but i do would like to play this games at 1900x1200.

Im almost done with all the choices, but i do need your advice toward if the E8400 would be enough or not cripple a GTX260/216c. This mostly the only thing i have my doubts, if it is, ill probably go with an i7 setup, but i just want to see your opinions toward E8400+GTX260 mostly for WOW playing 1900x1200.

I probably will do another upgrade once Win7 is out and steady, but i might build all again depending on whats on the market, atm i just want to spend the least possible while still play at 1900x1200 in WOW.

i play cod4/5 and have never seen my fps under 60. if you already have a lga775 mb/ram go for the e8400 and oc to your wildest imagination. if you got the cash an i7/gtx 260 slaps wow around at that resolution.

Got mine overclocked to 3.6. Synergizes with my GTX 260 just fine at 1920x1200, plus my 19" secondary monitor at 1280x1024.

e8400 OC'd to 3.6 + 4870 512mb on 19x12 with no problems here. Maxed setting with good frames everywhere, dalaran sets at 20fps is the only non-issue.

great chip, and overclocks nicely. works great for the games you listed. :)

The higher your resolution the less your CPU matters. I have seen Crysis tests done on $1600 CPUs and they scored the same as a $200 CPU at 1920*1200 with AA. The E8400 will be fine.

If you're an overclocker, save $100 with the E5200 and put that extra cash into a better video card.
Since you're only playing WoW, CoD4, and CoD5, it's probably a non-issue.

E8400 @ 3.8GHz and a GTX 260 Core 216 and I never felt it get bottlenecked.

Good balanced combo, I would say. ( I have had it) My son played wow on a 22 lcd with no problems.

Mine is @4.0 running my GTX 295 works just fine.
and why would it not work fine? you could run a gtx295 with a 5000 X2 and would work just fine but of course you would be bottlenecking the hell out of it. its not like your comp is going to shut down if the cpu isnt perfectly matched but you will of course lose performance. in the OPs case an e8400 and gtx260 are just fine.
