Would a 550w antec power supply be sufficient enough to run a geforce 5950 ultra video card and everything else?...if not then could anyone suggest anything better plz..thx

i would also suggest looking at Fortron/Sparkle PSUs. i've had better luck with the 530w model than the Antec 550w.

I run two optical drives, two hard drives, a "9700 pro" (actually a softmodded 9500NP), an Athlon XP2000+ @ 2300MHz, and a bunch of other stuff off an Antec SL350 power supply.

I brought a DC current probe home from work just for kicks, and everything falls easily within it's ratings. There's no need to buy a 500W supply, IMO...

^ likely true

you run that probe at spinup?
any way to log it? That would be nice

if you could :D

but there will likely be no problem being over powered either
might effect the efficency would be all,
and that would potentially create more heat (less efficient)
