Hi all.. The cable on my monitor is acting up.. So i went to radio shack and picked up another dvi cable.. Come home and it doesnt work.. I noticed the new cable is dual link and my oringal one is a single link.. When i plug the orginal one back in-- the screen works-- but when i plug in the new one-- it doesnt.. So is it a bad plug or do single link monitors not work with dual link plugs?

Dual link should work fine, it connects 2 sets of connectors instead of one.
This gives it extra bandwidth for higher res displays, thats all it does.

Make sure the connector is properly screwed down at both ends.

Another possibility is that your monitor is an older DVI-A (analog) monitor and you purchased a Dual-Link DVI-D (Digital) cable.

Dual link itself cannot cause an issue.
