Would a DAC be beneficial in my situation? I have a Asus Strix Z270E mobo that I'm using for sound. I have a pair of RBH monitors hooked up to my Logitech Z5500's amp through optical. I'm looking to get the best sound I can for games and music. Any suggestions that may improve my current setup?
 
So optical form your motherboard to the Z-5500 amp which is powering the passive RBH monitors?

I would suggest getting a proper amplifier or even an integrated amp/dac combo. The Z-5500's amp was never designed to run a monitor like that.\

Which exact RBH model do you have?
 
Get proper speakers first, then worry about dacs. The speakers have about 90% impact in the total result. You didn't mention which model from RBH you have (and I don't know the brand either).
