wondering if it would be worth it. I am sure it is but still want opinions. I think I may wait till the refresh though in June-ish

Gaming at 1920x1080

I would wait for the refresh for a cooler and maybe faster Fermi.
 
Yes you will see a performance boost.

I would recommend the ATI or waiting for a die shrink though.
 
I would get one if you play the new directX games, Or if you want to spend a little less get a used HD 5870.
 
LOL, why are some of you guys so worked up over someone buying a GTX 480 :p

Me, I think it depends on why the OP is considering an upgrade. Is he hitting the performance limitation of his current hardware, or just upgrading for the sake of getting something more powerful just because its out there.

If its the later, then probably its best to hold on a little longer. Lets see if nvidia releases a newer revision with all 512 cores enabled sometime in the near future.

But if he really needs the extra performance and don't mind the price, then yeah, nothing wrong with GTX 480

assuming he insist on an nVidia card. Its not going to kill anyone getting the GTX 480, if you got the cash
 
I am playing BFBC2 HBA0 off (look for QKSILVR73 and add me :) , FARCRY2 and ARMA2/ ACE/ PR future. All of them play fine on High settings 2x AA.

I like to play everything with all eyecandy on, but don't have to right now.
