Worth upgrading?

Hey all, Is it worth going to a 9800Pro until the 512mb bad boys hit? They can be had for a decent price now, and I feel my vid card is whats really holding me back (although I'm playing Doom3 with what I consider reasonable quality and performance). Specs are below:

AMD Athlon XP 2800+
Asus A7N8X-X
512MB DDR PC2700
350W power supply
ATi Radeon 9200SE 128mb w/ 4.9 betas
Windows XP SP 1

btw, nothing is overclocked. Also considering getting 2 sticks of 512mb pc3200 corsair.. good move? Any advice is appreciated. Looking forward to HL2 as well, and I imagine a lot more time will be spent with that game than any other.

thanks

i went from a geforce 5600u to a 9800 pro, and i say it was hella worth it. i dont plan on upgrading to a geforce 6 or an x800.

If you can get it for under $200, I'd say it would be a good intermediate upgrade and carry you over awhile.

Yep, under $200 would be just about right. Will I notice a considerable leap from what I'm at now? Far Cry runs fairly nice at 1024x768, although not entirely maxed.. Should I just wait for the next gen of cards to drop? I'd like to be set for HL2 :)
