With the upcoming Intel Kaby Lake and AMD Zen in a few months, is it worth upgrading from an Intel Haswell processor to SIlverlake?
 
Will the upcoming Intel Kaby Lake require a new cpu slot so therefore a new motherboard ?
 
BTW, Late next year (possibly slipping into 2018) there will also be a 4C / 8T Kaby Lake -X processor that will be for a different socket. The mainstream Kaby Lake processors will be compatible with Z170 however.
 
Fry's appears to be selling the i5 6400 for $139 today with a promo code. Wondering if it would be a good placeholder until a Kaby Lake i7 is available.
