At the moment I have a 4870 X2 with the Artic Cooling Cooler. I have been wanting to upgrade to a new video card, and for certain reasons. First off I would like a DX11 card, and also I feel the 4870 x2 has a shuttering problem. For example I play alot of World of Warcraft and even at times when it says im running 50 fps it has a skipping feeling when flying ("especially with alot of foliage"). I believe the stuttering problem is due to the dual gpu solution. I have been looking at the GTX 580, but there is the new AMD 6970.

The 6970 is doing very well next to the gtx580 in terms of performance for like 200 less. Should I upgrade to a 6970 from my 4870 x2?

I play alot of games, and run multiple monitors. I have two 26" Samsungs as my displays.

Nvidia cards perform significantly better than their ATI counterparts in WoW. A GTX 570 would perform very well in WoW. If you play many other games, then go with the 6970.

There's your answer, although its not exactly 200

570 and 6970 are about equal with the favoring titles swaying either which way,
the 570 is cheaper
the 570 is shorter
the 570 runs cooler
get the 570 :)

The problem here, is that the 6970 is a dud.
Really the 6950 is the only one to think about. Compare it to the 570 if you have to.

Also "runs cooler" is debatable. Similarly with power consumption...
And, who cares if it's shorter?

If we're talking about 2560x1600, and higher, then it's a totally different story.

I don't know what 26" resolution is. 19x12 maybe? 1080p if it's a TV.
