Worth upgrading to wireless N?

I recently upgraded my desktop to Wireless N (my Wireless G card was going bad, and the price was right), and my laptop also has N. I'm still using a WRT54GL for my router. I don't have any signal problems, and usually get 54mbps on both.

Would upgrading to a decent N router make any difference in web browsing or downloading, even though my Internet connection only reaches 10mbps?

No, but I do notice that when I'm downloading large files, Windows reports my connection as <20mbps, instead of 54. Would an N router help in this situation?

For anyone on the fence, I've tripled my internet speed from 2.5 to 7.5mbps with the upgrade to n, even though I'm only getting 130mpbs from the router. Best $85 I've spent in a long time.

I see you've already done it, but yes, n is absolutely worth the upgrade.

Check your Channel Width setting, if it's set to 20 MHz change it to auto or 40 MHz. Then see if you can get your full 300mbps.
