Worth trading in a 1080 & 970 for two 1070s?

I was running my Vive on the 970 for a few weeks before the 1080 arrived, and didn't notice much of a difference with the new card.

Since the 1080 is in the VR machine and the 970 is in my daily workstation (1080p), I've realize I can sell both for about the same price as two 1070s, EDIT: and have a 1070 in each system.

On the fence and need a push.

Decided to stick with what I have.

Considering the current pricing for the 1070 is about on par (value wise) with the 1080,
that the 10 series cards don't have analog out (useful for my workstation) ,
and that the 1070 is overkill for 1080p 60Hz gaming,

I'm gonna stick with the "King Card" for the best VR perf I can get.

Wait - I think what you're saying is you have 2 systems, you think you overbought with the 1080, and are thinking of downgrading the 1080 system to 1070 and upgrading the 970 to 1070?

I'd keep the VR machine top notch. Especially since a 970 pushes 1080p at at least high settings.

It's kinda hard to hold 90FPS. Don't want to be puking over a bad decision later. :)

Exactly, edited my post to clarify.

I wouldn't. Single card is king.

Was thinking the 1070s would hold me over till the 1080ti, then step the VR system up from 1070 to 1080ti?

Might have some worthy VR titles by then too.

if this is the case i would just sell the 970 and buy a rx 480 when it comes out. than either use the rx 480 for the vr rig and the 1080 for the workstation or the other way around.
