From a P4 3.06 and Asus P4P MB to a Athlon 64 3500 and Abit AV8 MB? Performance wise will there be a whole lot of difference? I do gaming, FPS's and such, and internet, some burining a so forth. Pricewise I'm prob gonna be shelling out about 500 bucks or so for the upgrade. Wait or splurge? Opinions please fella's. Thanks as allways.

Personally, I'd probably wait. 3.06 will be fast enough to do whatever you want for now, you might just need to upgrade your video card.
 
What videocard are you using, and amt of ram in your system?
 
I am ocing, lol. 3.06@3.4 Using 1 GB of XMS RAM, and a 9800 Pro. I'm having no problems just thinking of the idea was all. :)

9800Pro -> 6800GT would be a much better upgrade methinks.

I agree with this, I don't think a CPU/Motherboard upgrade is needed at this point.
 
i'll agree with the 6800gt option. Buy the 6800gt, sell the 9800pro while it still has some value, save the rest for a system overhaul come springtime (or whenever).
 
If you have no problems, I would wait until you have problems playing certains games or running certain applications to upgrade. That's what I am doing and since I waited until the game I want to play (WOW on high res) I am able to get a 6600GT AGP when they come out (currently have an FX5500 and people with this card in BETA are running OK but not great), if I would have bought a card over the summer when I had an "itch" to upgrade I'd probably have a 9600pro or something to play WOW even though I wouldn't have needed it at the time.
