My initial intent was to do an exrtreme upgrade (FX 55 / Twin Video Cards , Raptor drives on raid) but the price tage scared me away. So I decided to set myself up w/ a smaller upgrade w/ the option to expand as my budget does and give my old machine to my son as a upgrade for him. My question is how much of a visible difference will I see from my old rig to my new one.

Thoughts Welcome.

Thank You & Happy Holidays.

I say go for it, and hell, toss the raptor's in there while you're at it :) They aren't that scary, price tag wise. When I first loaded them up, they diddn't seem too much faster other than a few distinct areas, but when I had to run my old HDD to attempt and troubleshoot some issues, man did it seems slow compared to my raptor raid :p

And try for a 6800NU PCI-E as well would be my suggestion...makes for a better upgrade later imo, but 6600GT isn't a bad card at all from what I can gather.

I say yes...You will notice the change just from the Videocard alone....But the change in CPU is always a plus....Multitasking becomes a lot quicker, and games run a lot smoother...
