Worth it to upgrade?

From a Ati 4850 to a more powerful Nvidia or Ati card. Would there be any significant increase?

Tell us what resolution you run, what typical use you would use your system for, the rest of your system specs, including processor and speed as well as power supply and wattage capacity and you'd get a better and more specific answer.

I use the PC for gaming and other tasks. I generally game at 1680x1050.

Phenom 2 X4 945
Corsair 450W power supply

1680X1050 isn't all that demanding, unless it's a demanding game title. What game(s) do you play most often? what are you looking for in means of increased frame rates etc. ? The 4850 though a little older is not by any means a bad card and I speak from experience.

I wouldn't bother unless you wanted to do things like have v-sync enabled and play crysis with tons of AA.

The 4850 is a good card for now. I'd wait and see about upgrading once more DX11 games come out, which might be quite awhile. Although, it sounds like you want more performance in something that you don't feel the 4850 is capable of, so if you list your computer specs and the game/program in question, then it might be easier to find a good suggestion.

No. Enjoy the 4850. Prices are a bit insane on cards right now. They will go down after christmas when people are tired of buying stuff.
