Worth getting second HD3870 for Crossfire?

I currently have a single HD3870 and I am wondering if it would be worth it to grab a second one for Crossfire. I would like to get a current generation game such as Left 4 Dead and don't want to spend alot to get good performance, I am wondering if a second 3870 might be worth it or not.

System stats below. I game at 1680x1050 on my cuurent 22" LCD, but would like to get a 24" for 1920x1200 resolution.
 
Also wondering if I get a 3870x2 if I would be able to run it with the single and get tripple CrossfireX?
 
I would highly advise getting a current generation card rather than an old HD3870. Yes, you could run tripple crossfire.
 
I'd definitely recommend a 48XX based card over another 3870. I went from Crossfired 3870X2 to a single 4870X2 and the performance experience has been overall much better. The 3870X2 used to hitch, slowdowns, etc. Much happier with my 4870X2.
 
Don't expect anything but trouble when having more than two GPUs.
 
Having 2 3870s in my box...I am going to have to agree with the other posters. A 4870 would be a better investment for you. If you read up on the benches a single 4870 keeps paces with 2x3870 in pretty much all games. Looking at newegg prices, you could almost get 2x4850 (after MIRs) for the price of a single 3870x2....and those 4850's would be faster than your 3xfire of 3870s.

Also, while I do not agree with the above poster that you should avoid more than 2 GPU setups, they do have their draw backs. Such as sometimes brand new games will not play nicely with them, and the extra heat they generate, etc.
