This video stars tattoué, an incredible industrial tattoo machine that uses the principles of 3D printing to safely apply ink under the skin. What a great way to get your favorite video game tattoo.

I don't know if I would want to use something like that. At least if a person starts to screw up they can stop. A robot will keep going.

As someone who works with CNC machines, all it takes is one misstep on the programming and it could be disaster. It's interesting to see though.

Do people not know what that thing is going to do to the poor bastard it's working on when the machines rise up?

    Ever seen Robocop II?

This is some really cool technology for automation in the future i suppose... Printing tattoos on yourself for those who love them.
But tattoos are also about the Art, every Tattoo artist puts a unique style into their work, and each one has a different touch [some more painful then others...].

Maybe in the future we'll have our stuff re-drawn by the artist, then shoved into a machine to do the actual work if it can do it without blowouts and ect.

Did anyone notice the pink R2 unit in the background? I can see it now "My Tattoo sux this R2 unit has a bad Motivator" :p but as a guy with Tattoo's I don't think i ever want a robot doing the "ART" on my back! but I can see it doing a bar-code on my wrist someday....

Exactly as predicted. We are now 5 steps away from the automated abortion machine in Prometheus.

It's still interesting to consider all the steps that are required to overcome simple problems that human tattooers instinctively learn on the job... shape, overall curvature of the body, etc...

A proper setup will know if the needle is changed. In reality, a proper system will self change the needle automatically. People don't realize that the final evolution of this will be no human interaction. It will be all user driven to a machine interface. The only person working there will be servicing the robot. I'll be able to walk in...see an augmented reality version of the tattoo on my skin before it is applied and then the machine will do it dynamically adjusting to me fidgeting around because I'm a little bitch and can't handle pain. =P

Tattoos on private parts will get out of hand.
