My workstation is getting long in the tooth (Signature). Its low on cores, low on ram, high on mechanical drives, and I can't upgrade to any 64-bit OS because of Barco's communistic control of drivers and support. Bastards, Matrox too, screw em both.

New video card priorities / requirements:

1.) 2560x2048 10-bit grey scale x 2 (D-DVI x 2)

2.) Windows 7/8 x64 Drivers (Mature)

3.) AMD or NVIDIA with drivers on website.

4.) 1600x1200 32-bit color (Bonus)

I know Quadros can do 10-bit output, but on GL apps only and only for programs that know how. I'm not sure if they do it over DVI or only DP and HDSDI though. Given some of the abysmal luck I've had getting AMD's GL drivers to work with pro software (we have a 7750 at work that won't even run HFSS or ANSYS) I'd stick with nVidia. Just check on the 10-bit over DVI thing.

Expect to pay a fair bit though, nVidia charges a lot more for their Quadro series.

Are you doing any sort of diagnostic work on the images? If so, I'd just go straight to your PACS vendor and buy whatever they recommend as it is going to greatly simplify your life from a support perspective. As noted above, the 10bit requirement is what will drive your selection process.

Save yourself the aggravation, find out what your software vendor recommends, and do that.

I am a radiologist and sometimes am asked to read films from home.

My PACS vendor wants me to upgrade to a Coronis 6MP. We have made the move at my office, but am not willing to spend 25K on a new home setup used only on weekends or evenings.

If I upgrade, its going to be all on me. I own the hardware I currently use. I would like to continue using my monitors but would like to upgrade the workstation to SB/IB.

I will be able to get my GE PACS license, SpeechQ, and secure VPN up and running without a problem. The only hangup is the video card. I have used Barco included cards for 6 years and never tried anything else.

Seems a Nvidia Quadro 2000D supports the output, might just have to buy one and try it.
