Let me start this off by saying there will be NO gaming or overclocking on this system. It is for the Project Manager in our multi-media department. He will be using it mainly for large Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Visio, Project, audio editing; and limited Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash. (We only have 5 people in our department, so we wear many hats.)

The budget should be around $1000 - $1500.

Here's what I'm thinking:

Intel 945PVSLKR Socket T Mobo - $165
Intel Pentium D 830 3.0Ghz - $319
Thermalright XP-90 w/ Panaflo fan and 775 adapter - $50
1GB Corsair ValueSelect (2x512) DDR2 (PC5300) - $128
XFX Dual DVI Nvidia 6600 256MB DDR - $123.00
80GB Seagate SATA (keep in mind we have a large file server) - $64
Creative SB Audigy 2 Value - $50
NEC DVD Burner ND-3540A - $43
Antec TruPowerII 480W - $100
Lian-Li V1000 Plus - $192
Windows XP Pro - $147

Total of $1381.00

Any opinions would be appreciated.

well there are other advantages to having more than on HDD than just space in a workstation
just like there might be advantages to having more than 1GB of RAM, depending on what your doing in Photoshop (high res w\ alot of history)

that Intel chipset might be getting considerably more rare, there isnt much demand for the Pentium Ds especially at the top end and production has shifted in favor of mobile platforms

also considering its all 2D in your list the vidcard is overkill, a Matrox G550 would do
(of course that would necessitate AGP)

all in all though it looks pretty sound

Just get him or her a Dell 9100 with a Pentium D 830, I don't see any point in building your own if it's not a personal system and if anything breaks Dell can send someone out to fix it and you don't have to play tech support for anyone.
