I recently got a small "server" from my friend Mike, and it needs some work :p The case is solid, but needs repainting and some work on the front. Anyways, on to the specs!

Unknown motherboard (slot 1)
Pentium 3 550mhz
256mb PC133 SDRAM
10gb(OS, programs) + 20gb (Server storage)
And of course the usual NIC, CDROM, Floppy, monitor, KB/Mouse etc...

That's what it looks like now, I plan on filling in the little groove where all of the front panel buttons/LED's went and relocating those. Bondo on the front panel will start tom., so stay tuned for more pics!

thats the inWin mini-tower... the little brother of the Q500...

what are you planning on doing, just the paint? (which it needs badly hehe)

I plan on filling in that little groove with bondo, painting it (inside and out most likely) and maybe a window (but its not like theres much to look at inside :p)

My friend tried to paint if before i got it, so I sanded it down a little

It still needs a lot of sanding before I can do anything with it

It looks like your friend tried to color it in with a felt tip marker :D good luck w/ your new project though, looking forward to some progress pics ;)

Nah, the paint wasnt too bad but it was cracked because he rushed it

The little pattern in the paint is just my attempt at sanding it down some

Put on the first bit of Bondo a few minutes ago, and man that stuff is messy :p

yeah it is. be prepared to put on around 3 coats of it too. But man is that stuff is great, the finished product will be well worth it. cant wait to see what you are going to do this disaster mod redone

JEEVES

Yea, I just got done sanding down the first layer and there were a few small places where I needed another layer... So we wait another 20 min or so for this to dry then i will be back down for another session of sanding and then some more bondo just to make sure its all good :D

Almost done with the bondo, I still need to finish a few imperfections in the part I already did and I am going to fill in the little square for the sticker (along with some other imperfections in the front of the case, it ended up having at least 2 different coats of paint plus primer :D and there are some little impressions on it)

If anybody has any ideas for the case, just let me know!

Bondo is done! Still need to sand it down with a finer grit sand paper, but its pretty smooth right now! Ready for paint, but I havent yet decided what color... hmmmmm....

Well seeing as it's a server, I'd just give it a lovely black paint job, and then give it the silent treatment. Most servers run 24/7 and having to hear an extra PC 24/7 sucks. :)

yeah i always wanted to make a case out of 2 layers of foam, one all the stuff is layed down on and basicly a case but then a 2nd layer around the case to muffle the fans

It will have a nice 120mm intake and a single 80mm exhaust (stupid case...) The CPU fan will be replaced with a quiet slot HSF so the only real noise makers will be the hard drives (old, 10gb drive is loud as fu*k) The 20gb shouldn't be too bad tho, its a seagate on rubber mounts

I will be cutting the 120mm fan hole tom. sometime hopefully and sanding down the top of the case (the case is already painted black)

I am still debating on whether or not to have a window, I think it would be cool but I won't see it anyway
