First things first, parts list.
Windows Media Center Edition 2005 Asus P4P800SE Intel 865PE ATX Motherboard Intel Pentium 4 2.8Ghz HT Processor BFG GeForce 6800GT OC 256MB AGP8X w/ NV Silencer 1GB OCZ Value Series 1024MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz Ahanix D.VINE 5 Silver Case w/ 300W PSU w/ VFD Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 250GB 7200 RPM SATA HP DVD Writer DVD630 16X Dual Layer DVD+-R
Will be using WMCE2005 to listen to 10,000 song collection and watch ~100 DVD rips, not to mention Chris Rock videos, SNL, GoodEats, and those "other" videos. I have DirecTV, so no TV on the HTPC (until Microsoft and DirecTV actually do something, which they said they will).
I had the Intel P4 2.8 HT laying around after upgrading my main machine so this build was essentially designed around it and some other spare parts I had. I went with the Asus board for the SPDIF/out, SATA, and AGP (as I had two cards laying around).
