jmroberts70 said:Awesome work dude! I have a question though:
How much did you pay for the table material?
I've been planning for a even larger workshop for my garage and I need a LOT more surface space. I've been considering just buying cheap solid door stock for the tables since I need something fairly flat. 4x8 plywood or particle board is around $25/ea here in Southern Cali. and I started looking into formica sheeting to be the surface for a cheaper material and still wound up spending a lot more. Simply put, I need about 25-35 feet of work surface at 3 feet deep!

Mad Machinist said:Let me know if ya need help on the pnuematics for the star trek door...........couple of cylinders wouldn't be squat to make ........for that matter a pair of spring loaded Bimba's probably would be uber cheap.........just enough stoke to open the door with a timer to hold it open........and when pressure is removed from from them they will auto close.

i'm still trying to figure out what kind of shelving i want.. i'm leaning on the wire type that comes in closets, will help keep things dust free and let me run wires thru it... problem is I think it looks rather cheap and I want something really industrial, like a big steal rack
jcm44 said:I have always been a fan of 19" racks. I will probably get one once I have a house.

Probably 4 cans of primer and 6 cans of black paint would make one of those look very sweet.
(7\) said:mmmm i think thats exactly what i want... wonder what shipping on something like that would be
PhantomLimb said:Depending on where you live anywhere from $150-300 for LTL truck freight collect, plus if you don't have a loading dock you would have to pay a liftgate fee as well.
If you live close, then a U-Haul and some friends is all you need![]()

Na, i think there will be alot of ppl back to check on the progress of your work. Btw, i like it alot. My motto in life is mod everything to make it suit me, that statment can be taken to many areas. OUTSTANDING JOB, and thank you for sharing it with the rest of us [H]ers.(7\) said:wow so it did..

Wyrdone said:Personally I would skip the chalk board pain and buy some of the high gloss 1/4" white board material they also sell and use that and some dry erase markers.
Our HomeDespot has the 4'x8' sheets of the stuff for $11.55 We bought 4 sheets of the stuff for work and now the developers have 4'x16' whiteboard in their area for working out ideas and the testing lab has one sheet and I have the other (I'm Tech support and sys/net admin). Buy yourself a box of drywall anchors and screws and some "finish washers" and screw them right into the wall.
Less dust == good.
