well.. i recently bought a new house but it lacked something my previous house had.. a good computer room (hideout 1) so i did what any man with some power tools would do.. i made one..

first step was to put a wall in to close of a section of the basement.. yes its pink.. yes the people that lived here previously were insane..

so after thinking long and hard about what i wanted in some desks i came up with this

and finally I built all the desks myself

its basiclly particleboard coved in laminate.. all bought from home depot.. took me 2-3 weeks to fabricate the desks and a day to install them..

the room is only 1/2 done i still have my server closet to finish..i'll post pics along the way

SWEET JEBUS!!! That is fscking nice. I wish I had a basement so I could do that. Looking very nice. Keep it going, should look very very nice when you are done.

Good choice on color!

But you should have made the entrance to the computer room a hidden one. That'd be sweet. Especially since it's the basement, you don't have to account for any space so no-one would know it's there :)

thanks guys.. been busting my ass working on it.. i got some black paint today and I'm gonna take care of that plywood look tommrow..

I also got chaulk board paint.. and I'm going to cover a wall in it.. so i can write on it :D

chalk.. i meant.. I think i've been sniffing this laminte glue to much

ala A Beautiful Mind style where he writes on the windows and stuff? Haha, this really should turn out beautiful. When you're done you should definitely do as Spidey suggested. Stealthed cd-roms? Who needs those when you can stealth your computer room...:)

ya exactly.. i'll be able to write and erase on an entire wall..

a stealthed door wood be awsome.. i'll have to think that one out.. shouldnt be to tuff really..

cool but why is there a window with light coming from the outside in your basement?

its a walkout basement.. meaning its only underground in the front and sloped toward the back.. allowing windows and doors..

ok i see i was thinking you lived in some other deminsion where there is light underground.

nice thats the same laminate in my kitchen. What size do they sell it in?

On the topic of stealthed door, go powered sliding door/Star Trek. Now that would be a nice entrance to it. I'd wire up soem kind of RF signal thing so the door stays locked unless your within 3 feet of the door. Like Mercedes/Cadillac keypod thingy. Go go go!

No, tell them to leave me the hell along:D

Great job so far. I am interested in what's the plan to hide all the wiring within the desk setup you have.

Get a standard pocket frame and use a cable and pullies along with a motor. It would be pretty easy to do and you could use that futuristic formica to laminate the door. Nice work on the entire room, cant wait to see more pics

hence the name Hideout.. :D

as far as as star trek door.. i had originally thought of that.. but the cost of creating such a door was alot of money...

this entire room probably cost me $500 and counting.. wiring up all my cat5e and coax jacks today.. along with painting under the desk black..

hopefully be able to move all my computers in today..

DUDE!!! thats awsome, u shoulda put piping und the desk(alot of it) so u could do watercooling...passive too!!! :)

a few things i did today.. I painted underneath semigloss black.. (which needs another coat as you can see) its a neat effect because now the desk appears to float since the black isnt notice at all.. maybe I'll put some blue neons under the desk.. make it appear hovering

My Koolance and my trusty old nix server. (soon to be replaced)

Oh i also cut all the moldings to cover the gap between the counter and walls..

i also have issues with cable management under the desk.. still thinking about this problem..

thats sweet as hell man, good job. i vote for the hidden door, too. make it where when you walk near it, it opens, like those automatic ones at stop and shop and cvs...yeah!

attach black painted pvc to the under side of the desk (towards the back, be creative), then run your cables through that

YOUR REPAIR STATION DOESNT HAVE DUCT TAPE:eek:

either your a fool or you are a god who doesnt need it:eek:

that looks awesome, if i had a basement like that i know i would want the same thing
