Working with Tygon R1000

I'm working with some Tygon R1000 5/16" ID and stretching it over 3/8 barbs. It's great stuff, but my DDC creates enough suction to collapse the tube at the inlet. To be fair I am testing out a length of about 5 feet just to make sure none of my parts are leaking. The question is, do you think the collapsing will go away when I get it installed using short runs in a closed loop configuration? I've never worked with R1000 before and this is a little troubling.
 
the best way ive found to deal with suction collapse is to fit a stainless steel spring inside the tubing at the inlet side, you can just get a spring that diameter and slide it in.
 
....and this is why you shouldn't buy R-1000... :rolleyes:

R-1000 is Tygon's super soft-walled tubing... What you should be using is R-3603. The walls are much stronger and, IIRC, it has a tighter bend radius rating than the R-1000 anyway as the R-1000 is far more kink-prone than the R-3603. Then again, I think a lot of this stems from people recommending Tygon tubing but not specifying which type of Tygon tubing (as there are a whole lot). Some of it also likely comes from retailers not specifying what grade they are selling--some just list 'Tygon tubing' and you may end up with R-3603, R-1000, B-44-3, or who knows what else.
 
I've had 3603 in the past and that is the reason I went for the R1000. I'm putting it in a SFF so I need every bit of flexibility I can get. Sometimes people buy it for a reason.
 
hmm u could try these http://www.sharkacomputers.com/ty3x1clsuqut.html iv used the r1000 before and i found the b443x tubing worked a lot better.. at least for me

but iv never tried the r3603s so im not sure how those are

edit: heres a before and after pic, well i guess i kind of cheated since with the b443x i used 3/8 id and coolsleeves but even without the coolsleeves and 3/8 id tubing im sure its still more flexible

Thanks for the advice. I decided to give it a go w/ the r1000. It looks like the collapsing won't be a problem with everything installed. Pics later tonight :D
 
I just received a Koolance coil insert for 10mm ID tubing. I plan to use this "stent" should I have a problem with Tygon R1000 tubing kinking or collapsing. The coil insert doesn't appear in Koolance's online catalog but I was lucky enough to call and to persuade someone to ship a sample to me with my RP-1000SL order.

My reason for considering soft R1000 tubing is that my RP-1000SL reservoir needs to be partially pulled from the case for filling and I don't want to be impeded by stiff tubing. From the posts that I am seeing, I am wondering if other tubing would be less trouble.

How clear is Tygon R1000? I saw a post that implied that it is cloudier than other clear tubing. Another post stated that it is "gummier" than R3603. Does that imply that R1000 picks up dust?

I once used R-1000 about 2 1/2 years ago... needless to say I will not do that again! It is far too soft and I believe you WILL have the collapsing issue right before the inlet of the pump. I suppose you could get a small piece of of R-3603 and use that for right before the inlet if you do infact have a problem.
