It's been a while since I posted last and since then I've been pretty busy. I don't really have any pics to post right now, but I can tell you a little about what I've done. I might get around to posting them soon.
A List of components that I have already purchased or already have for use:
MSI P6N-SLI Motherboard - 8 pin CPU connector, quad core support, 4 SATA GB/s, twin IDE headers, up to 8 GB of ram, and SLI capable.
Ultra X-Connect 2 550 W Modular Power supply.
(1) Dual Layer Optical Drive.
(1) Nexus Fan Controller
(2) IDE Hard Drives
(1) Legal Copy of Windows XP Professional
Components I still need to purchase:
CPU - I'm not sure if I want go all out and get a Q6600, or if I should just go with a 6320 or 6420. I like the 4 mb l2 cache and then I could overclock it.
Heatsink - Coolermasters Gemini II with (2) blue LED fans.
Ram - Either DDR2 800 or 1000. Not sure yet.
HDD - A raptor or large SATA drive. Not sure yet either.
So I've mounted the PCI brackets and fit the mobo to fit the tray and the tray now mounts in the case. No fancy mounting brackets or anything, just nuts and bolts. I had to do a lot of cutting and filing on the case to the PCI bracket and board in to the case. I still need to mount the I/O Bezel.
Also, I'm going to cover the back panel with lexan and then paint over it. It will fill the space in nicely and make it look very clean once it's painted.
I rounded out the area where the fan controller mounts to make it look better and cleaner. It'll look great once it's painted. I just some more JB weld to fasten the triangles to the metal so I could file it and smooth it out.
I decided I'm going to do something crazy and completely ridiculous with this case: Use 2 slim 12 mm slot loading DL dvd burners instead of regular 5.25" ones. It's going to look awesome.
More updates to come.
