I've got a few questions regard a 450w PSU I want to use in a budget system I'm building.

So far I've got an AMD 64 3800+ AM2
ASRock AM2 board (onboard nforce video)
120GB Maxtor IDE drive
CDRW

Im throwing 1GB in the system for now, and as well a 7600GT 256mb. First off the power supply I have is a standard ATX 450w. It is not designed with the 24pin compatibility in mind although I can get an adapter. My question is can I use this power supply for the above parts? It's just a regular $25 PSU.

dont see why not your not running anything hardcore or SLi so should be ok

Agreed. Newegg sells a decent FSP 400W with dual 12v for 36.99 + shipping here Dave343 for its price and your needs its an unbeatable deal
