Does anyone that works at either of those two stores in the computer department actually like it. I cant freaking stand it. No offence but customers aren't the easy people to help. Im tired of answering the same question 6 million times a day. For all of you out there in the same boat please rant along with me. What are the most common questions that you guys get? Whats the worst thing a d*ck customer has asked you to do?

Sincerely
Frustrated

I need a new modem

I want a Pentium 4, because im a consumer whore

I want a really fast computer, how about this e-machine with 256 RAM and a celeron?

some of the more common ones i get.

One thing that really boils my blood is home networking...No matter how perfect i explain it they never understand. I get a phone call 30 minutes later everytime with the person at home asking me to trubleshoot over the phone. Yeah that whole p4 thing is annoying to....for some people thats their only requirment. What are some other things that all you people dont like?

you can't expect them to know everything and people will always want the best and other options so they can make their investments. Sure it sucks, and trust me I know, but thats life man. Deal with it or quit really.

There's a lot of people here in my building where I work and they all want the best. When we get new PCs and start to hook them up for the really out of date machines, all the other users from across the hall would come over and watch me, how many MBs of ram is in those, how fast are those, does it have a lot of memory? I've worked here for 5 years and I know everyone and I'm positive they have no phuckin idea what they are talking about and know that all they do is use exel and word. Their machines are perfectly fine yet they claim its not.

So yea, just deal with it, there's nothing in the world that you can do to change this.

Im not trying to complain like that, i really do like my job. But it is frustrating at times and i was just wondering what other employes had problems with and how they deal with it.

Haha. The customers often say that about the employees.

Oh, and, saying 'no offense' does NOT lessen the insultuous nature of your comment.

well lets see, how do I deal with it?

Being that I'm in a different situation, I just smile and say sorry but we don't have anymore PCs and your machine does not meet the out of date requirement, if you want a new one then ask your manager.

For you though, your extra effort will not go un-noticed. It might not be noticed everytime but when it does you'll be happy, trust me. Treat them like its your own grandma.

Remember when you do something wrong everyone hears about it and when youdo something right no one knows, but when they do its a nice feeling and maybe a raise?

I guess this was a bad idea
There are lots of threads bashing Best Buy employees, even though there are quite a few [H] members that work at retail stores.

I think the overall complaint is that we tend to know more than the employees, and that the employees mislead people into buying something more expensive.

Im not like that at all. i always try my best to get them what they need. I dont give a crap about sales numbers or any of that crap. I even feel crappy sometimes when im trying to sell extended warranties. I was a long time hardforum reader before i even started working and i would consider myself pretty knowledgeable on all the products i sell. My overall complaint is that some customers are difficult to work with.

I don't work there but friends, family, and even college students continuously get hard drives and memory mixed up.

Even in a computer engineering course i'm in, a guy said he had 80GB of RAM! I thought, u retard. But i let him believe that cuz just the previous day he bragged to everyone he had a supercomputer and i wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt "Maybe he does have a supercomputer and is filthy rich to afford such a thing." haha. Just think if he got hired on for R&D for some hardware company and ended up helping design the next pentium or athlon, or your ram, or your video card - OR ANYTHING!! Out future is looking grim. hehehe.

Now, I don't work at Best Buy or Circuit City, but I do work at Office Depot. And I get the same thing. People expect that since we have a technology department, we will have everything you could ever need. Far from the case actually. We also get the people asking us to troubleshoot their home networks over the phone, asking what kind of ram for a CPU they don't even know. Or if they do, they know anything about it other then it's name.

Customer: "Hey, I need some ram for my computer"
Me: "Ok, well do you know what kind of processor you have?"
Customer: "It's a Dell"
Me: "What I mean is, is it a Pentium 4? an AMD Athlon XP, that sort of thing..."
Customer: "Oh... I don't know. I think it's the first one"
Me: "Ok, well do you have any idea of the mhz it runs at?"
Customer: "Why?"
Me: "I need to know that information in order for me to figure out what kind of ram you need for your computer."
Customer: "You mean there's more then one kind of ram?"

Needless to say, this happens a few times a week and the conversation keeps on going.
I understand that not everyone is as insiteful about computers as some of us are. But there's a point in the day almost everyday that I wish there was a license you have to get in order to opperate a computer (somewhat joking).

There's nothing we can do about it except shrug it off and wait for the next assinine question.

Oh yeah, and one last thing. I've heard the PC called so many different names:
CPU, PC, Case, Tower, Computer, MODEM!, Heart, The brain thingy, thing, the box the list goes on and on. lol

There is a website to vent your frustrations though:
http://www.customerssuck.com/cs/

i hate it when people call it the cpu. and when they say they are getting something from a diskette or cd they say they are downloading it

YES! Downloading it from the CD instead of installing it. Where the %$&# did the saying "Downloading" it come from. Sheesh.

hahahah god i so happy i'm not the only one that feels this way

I don't work at one and never would. It's not the customers that would annoy me so much as the inredibly uninformed employees. I worked at a camera store one summer... the customers aren't that bad, but for example when a supervisor doesn't know something but insists he's right it's annoying.

From talking to BB and CC employees when I'm trying to find something, I've met maybe one who had a clue. I've never asked them for help picking something, I just need help finding it in some of those places, particularly computer bits since those sections are usually pretty illogically laid out.
