I am in need of some help with wording a proposal. Folding related of-course. Post in here if you are interested in helping the team.

Thanks.

I make a decent proof-reader... I'm not the best with writing something, but alot of times I can improve upon what was said already.... I'd be happy to look it over, give suggestions,etc....

Keep on Folding!! For the [H]orde!!

Sure, I'll help. Not sure you'll want to trust the writing skills of an engineer... but I used to be pretty decent!

my point exactly :D

I should have pointed out that all engineers are to be excluded from this exercise... :p

*sighs* I knew it....... discrimination I tell ya'!!! discrimination!!!!
:D

Ok, here is what I need.

AceGoober brought to my attention that a site that he mods on, www.dfi-street.com has a folding team in it's infancy. I would like to approach the admin of that site and see about another possible merger/subteam. This is really the only semblance their team...here in this long thread. http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15529

I need to contact the admin over there with something attractive sounding and this is where you come in.

I have given you the ammo...build the cannon. :D

I can work on something tonight when I get home from work, with my persuasive nature and decent english skills I may be able to come up with something good. We need more [H]orsepower to overtake the Aussies

my ? is did we ever figure out how the sub team would work?

i thought we were waiting on King to finish update hardfolding then we would have a meeting with him and figure all this out.

King is busy and I would prefer not to keep waiting.

We don't need King to get some subteams involved at this point. :)

ok that is fine

but how do you want them to be part of our team

username(DFI) or something like that?

For now, I am thinking that is sufficient...suggestions are welcomed.

Is that really.....fair? Shouldn't we try to make it to first place on our own power? This is possibly the best all around forum I've ever run across. Sure there are others with specialties, but even some of them can't compete with the intelligence (mostly) and friendly aura (sometimes) found in the Hardforum.

Doing this would be like merging 2 NFL teams to beat the Patriots in the superbowl. It wouldn't be fair. Just my $.02.

I think we need to recruit more from the other subforums on our own site.

This has been tried once before, and the response was less than positive. About all the inner forum pimping we can do is via our badges, and what we get on the front page. :(

I have a friend who folds for the Tech Report team, and over there all the users just used "SereneScreen" (the name of the company) as their user name. Thus...one big subteam..this is assuming the users don't want to have their own usernames and such...it's an idea.

I don't really think it is a matter of fair or not...I am trying to spice things up here a bit. Subteams seem to be the way to do it. Just think of the possibilities. Subteam gauntlets, bigger contests, more points and all for the cure. And as a side note, we can get back to #1.

Win/Win in my book.
:)

You can bet that whatever we do to ramp up, the roos will have something that can match it. I know they are enemies but I gotta give that they are a very competitive team.

Moose, PM me with what you want and I can try and help. :)

BTW, I am not an engineer, just a biologist, so you can trust me on wording. :p

Anyone have anything on this yet? :)

yeah i got you something... did it late last night will send it to you when i get home later today

so, if we got them to join, we'd jsut be getting their new points, right? There wouldn't be a way to merge their old points with ours? Man this stuff is like real-world business, except we're actually doing it for a good cause :p The big 2 jsut keep taking in the little guys :D

Yup, points are not transferrable... they'd have to get all new usernames and use team 33....

Not totally correct, they can just change their team number to 33....no username changes needed.

So I guess the only thing good in it for them is that they get to be associated with the Allmighty [H]orde! Other than that, they lose all their hard earned progress. Oh well, all in the name of science! (and kicking some aussie ass... ;)

Their old points will not be lost per se...they just will always belong to the old team.

They also gain the prospect of entering into our contests to win PCs and parts, gauntlets and joining a team that is established and has a clear direction.

I tired this too at a different forum... LOL not sure how it'g gonna pan out

Here is something that Duster sent me....thanks Duster!

Hello, My name Is (INSERT NAME HERE) I am a local moderator from another forum called Hardforum. It is a forum that goes along with a tech site [H]ardOCP. Part of what I do on our forum his help with our DC Teams. As part of that we have been actively searching for new people and groups to join us in the fight for the cure. This is why I am contacting you. What we are looking for is to add you and your team to our team as part of a sub team. The specifics are not set in stone but is what we are thinking is having your teammates change there user name to include a (DFI) at the end, and changing your team to 33. Now I know this is a kick in the butt to you b/c you will all start out at 0 points again. But lets not forget that its not about the points, but we have a lot to offer you for starting over in the points race. We have a highly active sup forum just for this cause and many team members to help you out with any problems you might run into while folding. There is also an IRC channel that some of our member’s hangout in that offer real-time help with folding issues and any other computer issue. Or as most of the way it is used we just hangout and chat waiting for stats to update. Also we have a local forum member that has built some tools to help out running disk-less folding farm and a no brains linux farm. As part of join the team you would also be able to take part in some the contest that we have almost all year round. We also have prizes for some of our contest. The prizes range from different things from our costume folding case badges to entire folding boxes.

Have any suggestions/improvments? (engineers welcome this time... :p )

Added a few things.... fixed some grammar... reworded a few things....

edit--- I'll agree with the links and such... definately allows us to be a little more specific about contests, etc, etc, etc, etc

Hello, My name god. I am a local moderator from another forum called Hardforum, the forum that goes along with the tech site [H]ardOCP. Part of what I do on our forum is delete threads with our DC Teams. As part of that, we have been actively seducing for new people and groups to join us in the fight to kill roos. This is why I am contacting you, plus I'm board and gay. What we would like to do is to borg your women team style. The specifics are not hard as stone, but is what we are suggesting is to have your women change their underware to include a (MooseBalls) at the end, and changing your team number to 24. Now I know this sucks butt to you b/c you will all start out doggy style again. But let's not forget: its not about the points; it
s about sex. We have nothing to offer you for starting over in the points race. We have a highly sexual activesub-forum just for this cause and many team members to help you out with any limpness you might run into while folding. There is also an unofficial IRC channel that some of our members hangout in that can spam real-time help with folding issues and any other anal discharge issue. Or as most of the way it is used we just hangout and bitch waiting for stats to update. Also we have a local freak member that has built some dildos to help out running disk-less folding farm and a no balls Shitnux pile, and he'll be glad to help you get going with these tools with lube. As part of join the team you would also be able to take part in some of the rigged contests that we have almost all day. We also have dead cat prizes for some of our contests. The prizes range from different things from our local escorts, K* as male escort to entire orgies.

A few minor edits, spell ckech, added a few links. If you make more modifications, take off the quote tags so other people can quote it directly!

how did I do?

Here's my first try at wordsmithing. It's awful hard to dance around the "your points won't transfer" fact...
Edit: MN_Scout pointed out a mistake. I fixed it.

Hello, My name Is (INSERT NAME HERE) I am a local moderator from another forum called Hardforum. It is a forum that goes along with a tech site [H]ardOCP. Part of what I do on our forum his help with our Distributed Computing Teams. As part of this effort, we have been actively searching for new people and groups to join us in the fight for the cure. This is why I am contacting you.

We would like to invite you and your team to join us as a sub team. The specifics are not set in stone but here is the general idea: You and your teammates will change their user name to include a (DFI) at the end, and change your team to 33. We realize that this will mean your points will reset to zero, but unfortunately, the current structure of Folding@Home does not allow for the transfer of points from one team to another. In return, we have a lot to offer you. We have a highly active sub forum just for this cause and many team members to help you out with any problems you might run into while folding (and, well, just about anything else you feel like asking). There is also an IRC channel where you can find many of our members and find real-time help with folding issues or any other computer issue. Or you could just hang out with other members and get to know each other. We are a very community-based group and are willing to help any way we can.

The prizes range from different things from our custom folding case badges to entire folding boxes.

If you do not wish to join us at this time, I understand. You have worked hard for your points, and we're happy to be working alongside you. However, we would love to have you all as teammates.

Thanks for you time and let me know if you have any questions, etc!

Only read through the first paragraph of Mohonri's but there is a typo. his => is Change - "...on our forum his help with our Distributed Computing Teams." ==> "...on our forum is help with our Distributed Computing Teams."

I'm sure someone will have something new posted up by the time I get back from my errand, and I'll look that one over completely.

-MN Scout
