Okay, total wordpress noob here. I did my install yesterday and have added the nice "pixel" theme as well as a few articles. I have noticed that the search link at the top of my page does not function, and neither does the search entry form at the bottom left. Does anyone have any experience with this? What do I need to do to get this to work?

You might be using a template that's older and doesn't support the search function properly. it's probably a pretty quick fix but I don't deal with wordpress so I won't be much help.

I managed to get it working. I installed some random search enhancing plugin, and then I ran an index of my blog. I hated the plugin and disabled it, but after I ran that index, the search works like it should...

Lucky me I guess.

Slight off topic rant, Wordpress is kinda a PITA for those that are not used to it...the coding is hard to understand at times and thing are not always the most logical. I avoid it when I can, much more comfortable with Joomla/Mambo personally.

After many years using Joomla and contributing code to the community, I find the opposite to be true. As I mentioned before in other posts, Wordpress is generates pages in about 1/2 the time of Joomla, contains 1/3 the code of Joomla, and 1/4 of the files as Joomla.

Wordpress is lighter, definitely. I find it more confusing though :(

I came from brief joomla usage, and found Wordpress more simple myself. And other than this search/template issue, I haven't had any major problems/confusions.
