Finished my second WU. Still no points but I'm pretty stoked about finishing a second one. My computer hasn't been turned off in a few weeks now.

congrats! it feels good... esp as you blast through the ranks when you start and past all the people that only folding one or two units total. you're gonna climb awful fast this next month :D

(you might wanna switch the sig to a date though... or you'll be a perma-noob  :p )

sharp

Good point Sharp, didn't even think of that.

Bodega I'm using an HP Pavillion with a P4 at 2.5ghz. I dunno why its taking so long. It takes about 3 days to finish a WU for my machine though. Is there a way I can change that?

  1. Turn off any screensaver
  2. Check for any processes eating up cycles
  3. Remove un-needed cruft from startup
  4. etc...

Exactly what I thought too.

This is my business machine. I'm trying to keep useless stuff from my gaming rig. I could care less about this pos.

Chugiak, I've got no processes running. I do have a screen saver though. Lemme turn that off.

You were right, I turned the screen saver off and instead of it beig done by the end of the week it'll be done tomorrow at 10 am. This is so cool. :)

yup the scean saver eats up cpu cycles
A good program to monitor your progress is Electron microscope ( it even had a [H]ard skin for it ) its not quite as flashy but you can see whats going on , you can also monitor other Boxen of your on the same screen > download it HERE

Good to hear! I had a similar problem when I first started folding. Turns out the MB monitoring software from ASUS was hogging cycles like you wouldn't believe! So now I'm very circumspect about installing any unnecessary stuff from MB manufacturers.

Dr, I already have EMIII its a good program.

I like how now it takes about a day to finish WUs.

Yeah, unfortunately F@H crashed after I made that last post and I haven't been able to get it up and running since.

Gotta uninstall and start all over.
