Well my girlfriend has a Dell and it came with a 9800 Pro. So I got to talking and she said that I could switch my Geforce Fx5600 for her 9800! :) Very very happy! Well I got looking at it tonite and the normal power wire was really hard to get out from the card. I couldn't get it out for the life or me...Now is there a special release button or was I not trying enough! Also I know I need to uninstall both cards and software before doing the swap...Anything else I should know? Woohoo I'm excited the Fx5600 wasn't cutting it. Now a 9800 for free woohoo :)

Looks like you've got an obligation to take her to a real nice restaurant on your anniversary/valentines day ;)

Try using driver cleaner to get rid of any remaining nvidia "nuggets".

I recommend a format if changing brands. It's not necessary, but not a complete waste either. Install the latest Cat's (4.3's) and configure your shizz. Done. The format will take a little time, but imagine the performance increase by removing all that overhead and BS thats crept its way into your computer over the last.....what year? 2 years? More?

As for the molex connector, you can use some force to unplug it. Rock it back and forth with some plyers, just dont tweak that sucka or gouge into the plastic with a death grip. And for the love of Jesus, don't put so much force into it that when it finally comes un-done, the card goes left, the plyers and molex go right, and *yoink* FUBAR!!! Good luck.

It comes off. There is no release button or anything like that. At least it's not like the floppy connector on the 9700 that feels like it will break:(

What kind of bribing did you have to do ;) . It will come out, just make sure the wires are coming out straight from the molex and not twisted. Try wiggling it out.

might be getting my hands on a 9800pro soon for a kicking deal, i should know within a couple days, that shiz should be sweet.
replace my 9600pro, either that or just sell it off, either one ;)

No bribing ;) Just got to talking about it and since she NEVER plays any games but solitaire she said knock yourself out :) Woohoo!

That molex connector on the 9800 is truly evil. I can say without reservation it was the hardest molex I've ever had to remove. There's little components next to it and on the back of the card right near it, so it's hard to get a grip without ripping something else off.

Not to mention the ultra death grip the connector itself has on the card

I had to use pliers for mine. Fingers did not cut it

I [heart] your girlfriend lol..... haha okay, sorry.... maybe not.... but you should!

haha I just got my 9800pro too, good luck to ya. (make sure you got your non-intel agp bus driver at hand haha)
