LATEST UPDATE: http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1038638477&postcount=76

I'll post pics when they come.
Should mainly be a short build log with a couple of Linux questions and maybe a wacky ghetto bench/case design.
This machine will be folding for [H] most of the time but I still want to keep #1 spot on my other team.
CPUs and memory are getting an extended frisking by customs which could take a while.
All I have atm is the board.
The bare chip 2nd from the bottom left freaks me out :(

w00t on my first server/MP/SM board!
When I get this running i'll have a pimp hat in no time :)
The fun will start soon.

Meanwhile in Customs
"Say what do you make of these Bill? Documentation says CPU's but they're rectangular..."

"Must be drugs, pry the lid off mate..."

;)

Congrats on the build, can't wait to see it up and running.

Good stuff.

I hope you don't think this is the end of the addiction.....

;)

Here is the memory and the 4 CPUs are in static wrap on the KB.
I haven't been able to find a place with 4 of the CPU coolers yet.
I want to build it the weekend after next so if I order the coolers now they should be here in time.

i have seen a few people use http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...m1132X509988Xcf3a80976caf1d94cd0e05a372580122 for their 4P rigs

Just musky mount some hyper 212+ on it and call it a day.

Nerd Porn. :) How long is that motherboard? Looks like you'll need to fold naked or maybe use a Mountain Mods case.

Wow, I've never heard of a 4p motherboard. I get the feeling you didn't buy that off of newegg!

Echo the 212+ comments.

Save $100 or more on them versus the Noctuas.

The only issue is availability as I need to get them in my Country.
I will get the NH-U9DO A3's from maybe 2 separate stores or something.
I spend so much on PC Hardware I might as well get the Noctua's.
Also it's harder than you think to get 212+ coolers in Perth.

oh, sorry that I didn't pay enough attention to the details

I'm really surprised that Cooler Master doesn't distribute one of the most popular aftermarket coolers ever to the large market of Australia. Go figure.

I can get the 212 EVO but it isn't much of a saving.
Some random stores will have the 212+ at crap prices.
I could always buy off fleabay but I just want the U9DOs anyway.

Due to price and stock I could easily get rich shipping good hardware from the US and selling it for 2x the price.
Even buying 2nd hand cards from dudes in the US and flogging them on AU eBay would work well.
I remember getting 2x 9800GTs with after market coolers and stock for $100 all up.
At the time i would have made $240ish putting them on eBay.

Get the 120mm Noctuas, not the 92mm ones. You aren't going to be able to clear your memory with the 92mm version.

I own the Noctua 120s and based on some measuring they should clear the ripjaws if you align the fan a little higher up the heatsink. The 120s are also nice if you overclock. ;)

Didn't want to wait another month and a half to build it :(
4 of them might be too big to fit in a large USPS flat box :/

@Wolf
Being a fellow Aussie I understand how incovenient it is to get parts here. BTW I am building a 4P system similar to yours just for folding :)

Biffa I saw a picture of your rig in another thread. How are your temps with running a single loop?

Depends how quiet you want it, I'd say a quad 120, (120.4 in old money). Dont bother with 140mm rads the fans don't cut it.

$173.92 + $57.42 for the 4 blocks.
$450 plus $62 for the 480 rad, tubing, res, pump, fittings and coolant.
Total = $743

Think it would be a bit too expensive to WC.
Also that's only 1 pump and I might need 2?

Hmmmph :/

If it's $320 for the coolers plus shipping + tax to get to a friend in the US and then most likely 2 lots of $50 shipping to get the reasonably large coolers to me + PP charges then I might as well WC.
It would be like $450ish VS $800ish (forgot fans before).

Would these fans cut the mustard?

Temps won't have to be ice cold.
I could shove some random fans on the back for some pull as well.

Thanks

Missing anything???

Plus 4 of these CPU blocks: http://www.au.aquatu...-G34--G1-4.html
Don't care about overkill or any of that crap.
Not too much more than getting the coolers from the US and paying 3 loads of shipping and 1 load of tax.
Also cooler, quieter and 10x more awesome.
After it's been running for a while I will buy a Haf 932 and shove it in.
I will need a decent amount of tubing as it will be Rad > Res > Pump > CPU1 > CPU2 > CPU3 > CPU4 > back to Rad.

Thanks
