WMP10 Crashes

I just recently upgraded to newest version of WMP10 (Windows Media Player) and everytime I try play any type of files, it crashes. When I read the error log it says something happened with ntdll.dll or sometimes usp10.dll and just ends. Any clue why this is happening?

my comp spec: shuttle sn41g2, xp 2500+, crucial 512mb ram, radeon 9800pro aiw, nvidia soundstorm (the onboard one?).

What third-party codecs/codec packs have you installed?

Only I've installed are Divx and AC3 codec.

does it mention an "appcompat.txt" in the error report? if it does, i know *exactly* what's wrong & how to fix it:

click on the link below, click "download now" and run the prog. don't worry, have it on all 4 comps i've got (including a prehistoric p1 90mhz ) no probs w/ it yet.
